Most Instagrammable hostels of 2019 as voted by travelers

NEW YORK - Backpackers have been voting with their thumbs to crown 2019’s “Most Instagrammable Hostels”. The prestigious title awarded to the hostels that received the most Instagram likes from Hostelworld customers throughout the year.

As well as being full of swim-up bars, colorful facades and beautiful spots to watch the sunset, the list this year heavily features South and Central American hostels, particularly in Colombia and Costa Rica. The Evolution of the Hostel Traveler Report commissioned by Hostelworld, the world’s leading hostel-focused booking platform, recently revealed that South America is top of the list for many travelers, particularly Gen Z, who intend on visiting in the next three years. Hostelworld travelers are demonstrating their wanderlust by making these hostels some of the most liked of the year.
New research also reveals that travelers have increasingly discerning tastes and are opting for stylish hostels, with a 114% rise in millennial Americans believing great decor is vital when deciding where to stay, in comparison to past generations.
Maryline Goldman, Head of Global Communications at Hostelworld, said: “It’s great to see hostellers sharing their priceless travel moments with the world through images they’ve captured. Social media-savvy backpackers are increasingly finding inspiration for their next adventure from Instagram, with over a fifth (23%) of today’s travelers being inspired when they see where their friends have been on social media.”
Our new research highlights that backpackers are eager to capture scenic spots for their feeds, as two-fifths (40%) rank getting to see the prettiest landscapes as their most memorable and positive travelling experience. The wants and needs of travellers are constantly changing and evolving, and in line with this, hostels are raising their game to provide the best insta-worthy accommodation.”
